| dc.description.abstract | This study examines travellers’ perception of safety and security in Ilorin Motor Parks, addressing the limited focus on such micro-environments. Primary data was collected through direct observation, interviews, and 90 questionnaires administered to commuters at five motor parks using accidental sampling. Three indices were developed: Incidence of Crime Index (ICI), Passenger and Luggage Safety Measure Index (PLSMI), and Effectiveness of Safety Measure Index (EPSMI). Assault cases (ICI = 2.03) were the most common crime. Luggage points were the most used safety measure (PLSMI = 3.2), while private security guards were the most effective (EPSMI = 2.38). The study recommends collaboration between the government and the National Union of Road Transport Workers to enhance motor park security. | |
